We crafted this intense brew by starting with a robust, creamy, bitter-sweet stout and piling on layers of dark malt character, ranging from coffee to chocolate to burnt sugar. We still weren’t content, though, and yearned for a festive holiday twist, so we decided to add whole chocolate bars and cocoa nibs. Encouraged by where this was heading, we went on to steep sweet orange peel in the luscious liquor until the concoction began to resemble our favorite wintertime candy. You’re right; we went a little overboard. But we think you’ll fall in love with the result. Best consumed while caroling with friends, mostly on-key and at a full-throated roar.
