Highly complex, refreshing, rustic, and elegant, farmhouse ale is one of our favorite styles. Tumbleroot’s version of this age-old brew is a grandchild to the rustic, artisanal ales brewed on small family farms in Wallonia, the French-speaking part of Belgium. In the spirit of those traditional provision beers, we brew our Farmhouse with a variety of grains. We use locally sourced barley, wheat, and rye and add a generous dose of organic noble hops for a spicy and floral aroma and flavour. Our farmhouse is fermented clean, meaning we don’t add “wild” yeast. The black pepper and citrus notes and the super dry finish come from a traditional strain of French Saison yeast. Best consumed fresh, after a long day of pitching hay (or rolling in the hay, as you prefer).
