Join us for an explosion of local talent and creativity! The Tumbleroot Music Lab brings together acoustic, electric, and electronic musicians with live painters and dancers in short- and long-form cross-disciplinary large group improvisations — a psychedelic spaceship exploring the frontiers of the atmospheric groove. Hosted and curated by looping multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Michael Garfield (formerly of the Emerging Media Alliance) and building on the success of his 2013-2016 Loopers' Night and Paint Jam ATX residencies in Austin, Texas and site-specific collaborative freestyle at festivals around the world, the Tumbleroot Music Lab is an offering of medicine to soothe the wounds of the pandemic's social isolation and a showcase for the absurdly…
Tickets cost $20 in advance, $25 day of show (including all service charges). They are also available by phone through Hold My Ticket at 505-886-1251. Tickets will go on sale Friday, Nov. 18 at 10 AM. Matt Andersen has logged countless miles following little white lines down the highway, crossed vast oceans, and left audiences around the world forever changed by his powerful, soul-baring song writing. Those travels have been fueled by a profound devotion to music, a journey that began in New Brunswick with six steel strings. Since then, Andersen's work has reached spectacular heights through rich arrangements and fruitful collaboration, but at its core,…
Hooks & The Huckleberries deliver a powerful blend of country rock and soul music. Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico and founded in 2020 by singer Adam Hooks and guitarist Joshua Lee, the Huckleberries have quickly established a reputation for high-energy shows and hard work on and off the road. Rounded out by the Bonham-esque drumming of Dustin Hoag and passionate bass playing of Ryan Martino, the band immediately connects with fans at venues from road-side honky tonks to downtown rock clubs. Their debut album, “So Far Gone,” released in 2021, has received regional and national acclaim. Driven by Hooks’ lyrical…
Winner of the International Folk Music award for 2017 “Artist of the Year,” husband and wife duo Crystal and Pete Damore have been performing together as Ordinary Elephant since 2011. The duo’s sophomore release, Before I Go, produced at Santa Fe’s Kitchen Sink Studio, established them internationally, with musical nods to Guy Clark, Anais Mitchell and others. The Associated Press calls their latest album, Honest, “one of the best Americana albums of the year.” But it was Gillian Welch, more than any other artist, that inspired the Ordinary Elephant sound: a well-honed combination of insightful writing, deft harmonies and intertwined clawhammer banjo and guitar.…

Register for the event and we'll also send you updates if there are any schedule changes, as well as info on future free programs and events around Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Tumbleroot is a mostly-standing-room venue. Limited seating available. The sandy shores of Asbury Park, New Jersey are hallowed ground in the northeast; the rolling waves have ushered generations of venerated musicians to worldwide acclaim. Dogs in a Pile, an eclectic quintet, has emerged as the heir apparent to the town's rich musical legacy. Merging funk, jazz, and rock and roll with psychedelia, the quintet presents a completely original vibe built…
Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto, the powerhouse bass and drums of the group King Crimson for a few decades, bring that tradition to all their playing. Levin plays the Chapman Stick, from which the band takes its name. Having bass and guitar strings, the Chapman Stick functions at times like two instruments. Markus Reuter plays his self-designed touch style guitar – again covering much more ground than a guitar or a bass. And Mastelotto’s drumming encompasses not just the acoustic kit, but a unique electronic setup too, allowing him to add loops, samples, percussion, and more. Members of STICK MEN…
This year AMP's partnership with Center Stage will focus on Armenia. We'll have two very different Armenian groups performing, doing workshops and community activities. MVF Band takes the traditional 11-string tar on a global fusion journey while the more classically inspired Naghash Ensemble elevates Armenian folk songs with classical/chorale arrangements. We're lining up a variety of partners to provide background talks and discussions about Armenia to make this month a rich celebration of this interesting culture. Check back for specific concerts and activities. AMP Residencies provide artists an opportunity to perform several shows in New Mexico, visit schools, do workshops…
