Pile formed in 2007 as Maguire’s solo outlet, soon joined by time-warping drummer Kris Kuss (in 2009) and fuzzed-yet-melodic bassist Matt Connery (in 2010), among other friends; with its explosively intricate take on heavy music, the band found devoted fans amid Boston’s bustling punk scene. Since then, Pile’s released eight acclaimed albums, each showcasing different facets of its members’ talents.
Nik Parr & The Selfless Lovers are a high-energy, piano-driven roots rock band hailing from Austin, Texas. Imagine the raw passion of Bruce Springsteen colliding with the electrifying showmanship of Jerry Lee Lewis—New Orleans late-night revelry infused with Southern soul and a Texas Gulf Coast groove. And if that’s not enough, Nik Parr takes it to the next level, playing saxophone and piano at the same time—you’ve got to see it to believe it.
Maylee transcends all genres with her roots from gospel music in her teens to Blues/ R&B and southern Rock and Americana. She’s a powerhouse vocalist that takes you on a journey in her show and has been known to Rock your Soul.

Wednesday is a band from North Carolina led by Karly Hartzman, with guitarist MJ Lenderman, bassist Ethan Baechtold, drummer Alan Miller, and pedal steel player Xandy Chelmis. Half-funny, half-tragic dispatches from the American South unfurling somewhere between the wailing skuzz of Nineties shoegaze and classic country twang, Wednesday’s music defies categorization. Hartzman calls it “creek rock” – there are sleepy country-imbued love songs, moments of screaming hardcore propulsion, distorted pedal steel and Hartzman’s sweet voice slicing through the din.
Sam Blasucci is best known as one half of Mapache, a Southern California roots-rock duo just as instantly recognizable for their elegant, intertwined guitar parts as they are for their devoted, Nudie-Suit wearing fanbase. But when Blasucci was writing the songs that would become his debut solo record, Off My Stars, he found himself less focused on the guitar and more gravitated toward a different instrument: piano.
Over a 30-plus-year run, Superchunk has consistently been one of the best and most lasting examples of the magic that can happen when the D.I.Y. spirit of punk merges with the wiry honesty of indie rock. Their uncompromising, high voltage power pop sound is built on supercharged guitars and breathless tempos, then brought fully to life by Mac McCaughan's painfully honest words and mercurial vocals.

Nicotine Dolls make the kind of music you can’t hide from. The storytelling is front-and-center, beckoning your attention like a dusty old novel you can’t put down until the last page. The vocals are gritty and honest, holding nothing back in fits of joy, regret, and sadness similar to a phone call from one of your best friends at 3 am.
This Halloween, Tumbleroot Brewery and Distillery (2791 Agua Fria Street, Santa Fe) invites you to join us for an evening of Riffs, Tricks, and Rock ‘n’ Roll Treats! On the stage: Children of the Grave (Ozzy Osbourne), The Inappropriate Authorities (The Police), and Moby Dick (Led Zeppelin).
Entry is 100% free! Just bring your best costume and your loudest friends. And speaking of costumes, we’ll be running a Costume Contest with CASH prizes, so dress to impress (or terrify)!

Crowned the winner of the 2024 615 Blues Revival Competition in Nashville—judged by blues icons like Kenny Wayne Shepherd—Kelli is more than a performer; she’s a reckoning. Her July tour included support dates for Grammy-winning guitarist Christone “Kingfish” Ingram and genre-defying Samantha Fish, placing her alongside the most influential names in contemporary blues. Fall ‘25 brought a rousing impact, opening the headliner stage for ICP at Full Throttle, and ZZ Top at NYC’s esteemed, Beacon Theatre.
Albuquerque-based ONE MORE SILVER DOLLAR plays the music of the Allman Brothers and friends with soaring guitars, soulful vocals, and a rock-solid bed of southern syncopated boogie.
The ever-evolving musical vehicle for notorious psych-rock musician Anton Newcombe, the Brian Jonestown Massacre has endured numerous phases and iterations since arriving in the mid-'90s, becoming something of an independent institution in the process. Early highlights like 1996's Their Satanic Majesties' Second Request showed Newcombe's propensity for melding late-'60s psychedelia with textured shoegaze, while later standouts like 2015's imaginary soundtrack Musique de Film Imaginé took a more cerebral and experimental approach.
Trying Not to Have a Thought, out September 12 via Saddle Creek, isn’t just Algernon Cadwallader’s first album since 2011’s Parrot Flies, it’s their first with the original lineup since 2008’s Some Kind of Cadwallader. Shortly after that debut, drummer Nick Tazza and guitarist Colin Mahony departed; Algernon broke up in 2012 and stayed dormant until their feverishly anticipated 2022 reunion.
