Join two of New Mexico’s most celebrated, awarding-winning bands together for a very special fundraising event for Across The Americas Youth Cultural Exchange!
About Across The Americas (ATC) Youth Cultural Exchange is a project of the not-for-profit Kusi Kawsay Association, which, through their Nawpa Nan Cultural Center, seeks to empower the children, youth and adults of Indigenous communities in the Sacred Valley near Cusco, Peru The Across The Americas Exchange will be bringing a Quechuan youth delegation to New Mexico in July of this year for exchange programs with Taos Pueblo and other northern Indigenous nations. Re-connection of Native Peoples across the North and South is vital to preserving Indigenous ways of being and the lands that sustain us. “These young adults have been elected by spirit to reinforce the traditional culture that is fading,” states Robert Mirabal, who has been facing many of the same issues at home on Taos Pueblo. “They are committed to learning and to also establish a connection to the past through their future and to their future through the past. I don’t know what will happen to any of our cultures, but this may help unify communities.”
